Shopping in Dublin
Grafton Street is the most principal shopping street in Dublin City Centre. It runs from Saint Stephen's Green in the south (at the highest point of the street) to College Green in the north (to the lowest point). If you like to shop, you will simply love Grafton Street. A must visit for any shopping lover, you will be spoiled for choice with a huge variety of shops to tempt you, including the exclusive Brown Thomas department store, as well as a variety of high street shops and eateries. Grafton Street is located a 15 minute walk or less than 5 minute drive form Adelphi Guesthouse - ideal if you want to do some shopping during your stay.
Entertainment on Grafton Street
Those meandering the broad boulevard will find entertainment along their way as well. The fact that most of Grafton Street is closed to cars makes it a prime location for street performers to showcase their acts. Buskers, including musicians, poets and mime artists commonly perform to the shopping crowds. This scene was portrayed in the 2006 film Once, starring Glen Hansard of The Frames. In good weather, these buskers, station themselves at various points along the path to perform for passersby and try to impress them with their talents. Former Grafton Street performers who went on to achieve great success in their careers include; Glen Hansard, Paddy Casey, Damien Rice, David McSavage and Rodrigo y Gabriela.
